The California Dairy Quality Assurance Program has amassed a drought information page to help better inform California dairy producers in response to the driest winter season on record. While records only go back roughly 200 years, tree ring data show that the most recent winter may have been the most severe drought in California in the past 500 years.

“Snow pack remains at about 20 percent of normal and most farmers are anticipating little or no water deliveries,” the page notes. “The California Dairy Quality Assurance Program is ramping up drought-related outreach which will include workshops, assistance application sessions and online resources.”

The page includes updated drought monitor reports as well as information on financial assistance program information and deadlines, upcoming meetings, publications of interest to dairy producers with critically-limited water resources and links to other resources.
