Canadian researchers working to develop a vaccine for bovine digital dermatitis, or heel wart, in dairy cows recently received C$50,000 in funding from the Canadian government. Their goal is to develop the vaccine within five years.

"It is a very painful disease," not to mention a productivity killer, says Dr. Chris Luby, assistant professor, Large Animal Clinical Sciences, at the University of Saskatchewan's Western College of Veterinary Medicine and one of the researchers working on a vaccine.
