6 traits of a good consultant

According to the American Society of Agricultural Consultants, here are six traits to look for in a consultant:

• Communicates well. Good, candid communication between you and your consultant is first and foremost. 
• Offers valuable experience and knowledge. 
• Works well with others.
• Saves clients money or generates additional income that offsets the cost of his services.
• Is highly trained and current in his knowledge.
• Is a leader and an educator.  

In addition, look for consultants who belong to professional societies. They have continuing-education and networking opportunities that other consultants don’t have.
