The farm is able to achieve the goal on a consistent basis, according to Rick Hedrick, DPS production manager, by having the milkers “work smarter, not necessarily harder.” And, the performance of different shifts is noted on the wall of the parlor, thus prompting a form of friendly competition, Hedrick adds.
