Keep the praise coming

“Research is very clear that almost every human being — every employee — appreciates quality positive feedback,” says Bob Milligan, senior consultant with Dairy Strategies, LLC.

The challenge is that employees might not seem very appreciative of your praise. They might mutter something like “that’s OK” or “it’s just part of my job.”

If that happens, you might be tempted to stop dishing out the compliments.

“Do not be deterred by these responses,” Milligan says. “The best way to overcome these responses is to be very specific, completely genuine, and (develop) a habit.
