Hostile spring weather, delayed cotton planting in Texas, and a looming hurricane season threaten to reduce the cottonseed supply this fall.

Therefore, consider booking 25 percent to 50 percent of your cottonseed needs while prices are still low following last year’s bumper cotton crop. In early June, the delivered price to Madison, Wis., was in the $150- to $160-per ton range, which made it an attractive buy.
