Dairy welfare evaluation guide available

A new tool to help you evaluate animal welfare on your dairy is available from the California Dairy Quality Assurance Program. The Dairy Welfare Evaluation Guide contains checklists, technical guides and action plans for a wide variety of animal welfare concerns, such as calf management, housing and facilities, animal transport and handling, hygiene, lameness, and euthanasia.

A limited number of hard copies are available through the California Dairy Research Foundation office at (866) 662-3727. Cost is negotiable, depending on the number of copies and intended use.
