Develop middle managers

To develop middle managers on your dairy, you need to understand middle management’s role on your dairy, said Gary Ruegsegger, of Maple Ridge Dairy in Stratford, Wis. What is it that you want these individuals to do on your dairy?

“Remember that every middle manager is unique in his or her way and that every dairy has different needs and opportunities for middle management,” he says. In many respects, Ruegsegger notes, developing middle managers is like coaching a basketball team.  “It is a continuous process that is constantly evolving and changing.”
