Does your mastitis treatment work?

Unless you assess the success or failure of a mastitis treatment, you don’t really know if it worked, says Dave Rhoda, veterinarian in Evansville, Wis. And, if you don’t know how successful your treatments are, then it becomes difficult to demonstrate the medical necessity of using antibiotics to treat mastitis.

Work with your veterinarian to determine what constitutes a “treatment failure,” how it will be addressed in your herd, and the appropriate records to keep.
