Every dairy has some employee turnover. but instead of focusing just on your turnover rate, you need to look at where turnover occurs in your operation, says Don Tyler, employee-management consultant in Clarks Hill, Ind. Does most of your turnover occur in entry-level positions?
If so, that’s acceptable because it means employees are leaving during that initial getting-to-know-you period and it may just be that the job was not a good fit, explains Tyler. However, if most of your turnover occurs in skilled positions or in mid-level management positions, it signals a problem.
