Feed sampling guidelines

If you plan to open a new bag of silage or start feeding out of a different bunker, be sure to submit forage samples for nutrient analysis. Rock River Laboratory, Inc., Watertown, Wis., offers these reminders when submitting a feed for analysis:

1. Label all samples.

2. Never put forms inside the sample bags as this can affect moisture readings and impact ration balancing.

3. Send a representative sample of the product you want tested to ensure the best analysis.
