Red, yellow and green flagging tape is used at Robey Farms in Kentucky to designate the quality of colostrum in storage. The colors correspond to colostrometer readings; for instance, green tape means the colostrum scored in the green (or high-quality) zone. Denise Robey, who manages the calf operation, also records the exact numerical scores on the tape, allowing her to ration the colostrum even more specifically. She also uses flagging tape on individual calf pens to designate special needs; for instance, lime-green tape means the calf is being treated for diarrhea.
