When it comes to setting goals, you have three areas of opportunity — short-term, mid-term and long-term, says Hank Wagner, dairy producer from Oconto Falls, Wis. And you need to use each one in order to guide yourself and your dairy business.

To do this, Wagner suggests that you set three short-term goals (that will occur in less than a year), three mid-term goals (that will occur within one to five years), and three long-term goals (that will take five years or more). All of these goals should encompass personal, family and business objectives.
