Sometimes, even the best leaders can occasionally get derailed. Part of the key to getting back on track is to determine what derailed you in the first place.
According to Jorge Estrada, of Leadership Coaching International, there are four primary ways that leaders become derailed.
1. Lose connection to self. When people are overworked and stressed, they can lose track of their self-worth or who they are.
2. Lose connection to the dream/vision. When you lose track of the primary goal, it is difficult to make any progress.
3. Lose connection with their people. This happens when leaders stop listening to their people or no longer care about their people.
4. Stop learning. To be a good leader, one must continually learn about oneself, leadership, and things in general.
