Although it’s only April, heat stress will arrive at your dairy sooner than you think.
To help you get a handle on this, the Great Plains Veterinary Education Center has developed an online heat stress calculator. You enter the temperature, humidity and wind speed, and it will tell you the heat index and the temperature humidity index for that day at your farm. The site also tells you when animals are under stress and when emergency conditions exist.
