What did you say the last time someone asked about your animals’ care? If you said, “It’s in my economic best interest to care for them,” your response may have been misinterpreted.

“Consumers are asking questions of the heart, and we in ag often respond with data and science,” says Charlie Arnot, president of CMA Consulting. “And we’re viewed as non-responsive.” 

Instead, begin with the statement that you have an ethical and moral obligation to provide for animal well-being. Continue with the comment, “Let me tell you what we do to care for them.” Then do so.
