If you’ve been thinking about learning to speak Spanish, but weren’t sure how to get started, consider total immersion. That’s what Fort Morgan, Colo., dairy producers Chris and Mary Kraft did.

They signed up for a 16-day session through Language Link in Peoria, Ill. The Krafts traveled to Cuernavaca, Mexico, stayed with a family and received six hours of Spanish language instruction per day that was tailored to their individual skill level.

The experience, says Mary Kraft, was wonderful as it combined work, cultural experiences and excursions where they constantly honed their language skills. The Krafts learned conversational Spanish which they were able to use right away, as opposed to text book study which can take months to learn and is often different from the Spanish spoken by employees from Mexico.
