Dan Goehl, veterinarian with Canton Veterinary Clinic, LLC, Canton, Mo., cut round holes in the lid of this Styrofoam cooler to make a convenient place to set pistol-grip syringes.

In the summer, Goehl puts an ice pack in the bottom of the cooler to keep vaccines cool. In the winter, he microwaves a heat disk, which can be purchased at any pet store, and puts it in the bottom where it will remain hot for several hours and keep vaccines from freezing.

The cooler also protects the vaccines from UV light.
