Not all cases of mycoplasma mastitis look or act alike. In fact, mycoplasma mastitis can range from mild to severe with complete loss of milk production. Even in severe cases, infected cows typically look normal.

However, according to the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, there are two trademark signs that occur with every case of mycoplasma.

•Mastitis infections in individual cows do not respond to therapy.

•The infection spreads from one quarter to another.
