To help producers better convey the positive impact of new and expanding livestock operations, the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation has created the Ohio Livestock Public Involvement and Media Relations Program.

The program’s manual, “Building Community Capital,” gives producers a blueprint for managing public-relations issues associated with new or expanding livestock farms. The manual includes a self-assessment that helps producers identify their goals and pinpoint the public-relations challenges related to their farms. It then guides producers through a step-by-step process, showing them how to engage the public and boost community support. In addition, there is a section dedicated to understanding and working with the media. To request a copy of the manual, call (614) 246-8265.
