Two dairies in southern Nevada distribute this pamphlet as part of a proactive, public-outreach program. “We’re in an area where there isn’t a lot of knowledge regarding the dairy industry,” says Ed Goodhart, manager of Ponderosa Dairies in Amargosa Valley, Nev. So, the pamphlets are designed to create interest in dairying — even to the point of including a 12-question, multiple-choice quiz to test people’s knowledge of cows. The pamphlets also point out the positive impact that dairies have on the state and local economies.
