Trucks making deliveries at this dairy don’t have to wait for someone to weigh them in at the scale house. Badger Creek Farm in Colorado has installed a self-service scale that allows each trucker to input an identification code and automatically get his own gross and tare weights. For chopped forages, tares can be stored by truck so trucks making repeated visits during the day need only to get their gross weight to complete the ticket. All data are downloaded into the farm’s computer as a spreadsheet and duplicate scale tickets print in the farm office.
