A new bulletin from the Natural Resource, Agriculture, and Engineering Service (NRAES) provides guidelines for special-fed (formula-fed) veal production.

The guide covers veal calf health, housing and economics. The guide describes components and requirements of a special-fed veal production system that minimizes calf stress, while growing a product that the market demands.

The Special-Fed Veal Production Guide, NRAES-17, is available for $25 (plus $5.50 shipping and handling) from NRAES, Cooperative Extension, 152 Riley-Robb Hall, Ithaca, N.Y. 14853-5701. For more information, call (607) 255-7654.
