Dan Mcfarland, senior extension educator with Penn State Cooperative Extension, offers these tips on feeding calves:

  • Locate feeding area opposite resting area.
  • Use removable containers rather than fixed.
  • Clean and scrub containers regularly.
  • Provide separate access to grain and liquid containers.
  • Locate containers at a conventional height (12 to 18 inches above floor surface).
  • Locate containers outside of pen area to reduce contamination.
