Use pre-printed forms to gather important data

If collecting information is important to you, then provide employees with pre-printed forms to fill out, says Tom Fuhrmann, of DairyWorks in Tempe, Ariz.

For example, employees can record:

• Time of birth in the maternity pen.
• Whether assistance was needed during delivery
• Time of colostrum delivery
• Whether the calf drank or was tubed.

With pre-printed forms, employees can simply check a box or fill in a blank for each piece of information needed. It minimizes writing on the employees’ part and puts you in control of the information received.
