With less than 2 percent of the U.S. population involved in farming today, the public has little opportunity to visit a dairy farm. However, a new Web site, www.dairyfarmingtoday.org, may help alleviate that problem.

The site shows consumers the real story of dairy farming, including:

  • Life on the farm, with photographs and examples of innovative milk-production and environmental practices.
  • Dairy dictionary, an easy-to-use reference tool with dairy-industry terms.
  • Quality and safety, showing the steps producers take to deliver quality, wholesome dairy products.

The site, maintained by Dairy Management Inc., has been upgraded recently, so go in and take a look. And, be sure to recommend it to your non-farming friends.
