6X milking: No change in cow health

Milking cows six times per day for the first 21 days in milk does not appear to impact cow health.

According to an on-farm study conducted by the University of Arizona and published in the November 2005 Journal of Dairy Science, the number of 3X and 6X cows that visited the hospital pen during the study was about the same. Blood non-esterified fatty acid (NEFA) levels also did not differ between the two groups. The table below shows some of the findings:
