Yet another study supports the role of biotin in hoof health. The research, published in the December Journal of Dairy Science, shows lactating cows supplemented with 20 milligrams of biotin per day had fewer claw lesions than non-supplemented cows. At the end of the 14-month field trial, 24 percent of supplemented cows had sole hemorrhages compared to 50 percent of the non-supplemented cows.

The biotin-supplemented animals also produced 1,061 pounds more milk than non-supplemented cows during the study.
