Organic selenium reduces SCC

Oganic selenium may help lower somatic cell counts, according to a study from the Research Institute of Animal Production in Slovakia.

The SCC of supplemented cows declined 30 percent during the eight-week treatment period compared to only 7.6 percent in non-supplemented cows. The table below summarizes the results.

The study was conducted in a 270-cow commercial herd.
