a new clean-burning propane engine for off-road vehicles and ag tractors was unveiled last fall by the Nebraska Propane Gas Association and several research partners. The unit has been put in a John Deere 5410 tractor.

The not-yet-commercially-available engine has been designed to fit existing machinery with minimal changes. And test results for power, fuel consumption, emissions and noise have exceeded expectations. In fact, the engine produces 68 percent less emissions and 50 percent less noise than a similarly sized conventional diesel engine.
