Searching for the mastitis gene

Australian researchers are working on a new technology to compare the genes of cattle that are infected with mastitis and those that are resistant to the disease. The idea is to be able to identify the genes responsible for mastitis susceptibility and resistance so that producers can make breeding decisions based on the results. The theory is that this strategy will allow the industry to cut down on mastitis infections.
