121 animals killed in Wis. dairy fire

A Clark County, Wis., dairy is cleaning up after a fire ripped through their farm, killing 121 cows and young stock and destroying several buildings on the property.

According to WQOW News, the fire broke out last week at Naedler's Farms. Despite the efforts of four area fire departments, the wind-spread fire destroyed to the milking barn and three large additions.

According to Wisconsin Ag Connection, Granton,Wis., Fire Chief Chester Oldham reports that the fire initially began in the silo room were repairs were being made on an unloader bearing.

"They were using a blowtorch to repair the equipment and left for just a short while," Oldham said. "About 30 minutes later, they discovered that a portion of the building was on fire."
