Tornado One dairy farm is picking up the pieces after two tornadoes in Iowa and S.D. Sunday evening.

The NWS did not issue a tornado warning or watch before Sunday evening’s twisters and although the NWS only rated Iowa’s twister an EF-1 (the second-lowest on the scale with winds speed of 86-110 mph) it managed to cause $3 million dollars in damage to a local Hospers dairy farm.

Multiple reports by the NWS mentioned significant damage, 500 cattle loose and broken windows.

Sanitation has become the issue for the dairy farm north of Newkirk, which is now waiting for water lines to begin working again.

Two people were hospitalized for non-threatening injuries after the storms.
