ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — A state investigation has found a fifth person who was sickened after drinking raw milk from a dairy farm near Gibbon.

The state Department of Health reports Thursday they were sickened by E. coli bacteria after drinking raw milk from the Hartmann Dairy Farm.

Four cases were reported last week. A toddler remains hospitalized but the other three have been discharged. The fifth case is a young child who was not hospitalized.

The department says this week that the strain of E. coli involved has not been found in the state before. Furthermore, lab testing has also found E. coli in cheese from the farm.

The state has prohibited movement of products off the farm. Dairy owner Michael Otto Hartmann of Gibbon did not immediately return a call seeking comment Thursday.
