WEAU reports cow bedding caught fire at a dairy near Independence, Wisc. burning down its milking parlor and part of a barn before local firefighters could control the flames.

The milking parlor and the barn, rebuilt about five to seven years ago, burned more quickly due to high winds. Eight fire departments worked together Monday to fight the fire and neighbors will provide temporary homes for hundreds of dairy cows from the farm.

The damage estimate is unknown but both the barn and milking parlor are a total loss. No people or animals were hurt.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
