California March 4a/4b prices new record highs

California’s March 2014 Class 4a/4b milk prices were announced Tuesday, April 1.

The Class 4a butter-powder price rose for the 12th consecutive month, to $23.37/cwt. The March price is up 29¢ from February, $5.50 more than March 2013, and a new record high. At $22.86/cwt., the Y-T-D average is up $5.21 from 2013.

The Class 4b price is up for an 8th consecutive month, to $22.16/cwt. The March price is up $1.02 from February and $7.14 more than March 2013, and also a record high. At $21.20/cwt., the 2014 Y-T-D average is up $5.78 from 2013.

Federal order March 2014 Class II, III & IV prices will be announced Wednesday, April 2.
