Carrie Underwood tweets rage over Tenn. “ag gag” bill

Carrie UndrerwoodCarrie Underwood/Facebook Animal activist and country music star Carrie Underwood scolded Tennessee lawmakers on Thursday for passing the so-called “ag-gag” bill that would require anyone with undercover footage of a farm or livestock operation has 24 hours to submit an unedited copy of the footage to law enforcement. Read more about the bill here.

“Shame on TN lawmakers for passing the Ag Gag bill,” Underwood tweeted Thursday. “If Gov. Bill Haslam signs this, he needs to expect me at his front door. Who's with me?”

Other activists rallied behind Underwood’s tweet, supporting the end to “ag gag” laws and bills.

According to the BC Democrat Online, opponents say that it criminalizes whistle-blowing while allowing livestock producers to cover up alleged abuse.  Animal activists groups, however, have been faulted in the past for waiting weeks – or even months – before releasing edited video footage to law enforcement.  Click here to read more from the BC Democrat Online.

However, a reporting time frame would not be unique for abuse in the state. Republican Tennessee Representative Andy Holt pointed to Knox News that requiring animal abuse footage to be turned over to authorities within 24 hours is no different from current law requiring reporting of child abuse to authorities.  See, “Bill would require copy of undercover livestock videos sent to law enforcement.”

The livestock industry is also moving to put more emphasis on responding quickly and proactively to alleged abuse.

In collaboration with the Center for Food Integrity (CFI), the pork and dairy industries recently launched the “See It? Stop It!” initiative to encourage employees to report animal mishandling immediately.

“Those in agriculture are understandably frustrated by undercover videos. The actions of a few captured on video can taint public perception of the entire livestock community. Taking action to stop abuse demonstrates a genuine commitment to do what’s right for the animals on farms,” Roxi Beck, a CFI representative, said in a news release.

Additional information about the initiative can be found here.

This is just to make news for Carrie > Where was Carrie before the vote? > She should have said something before they voted > Saying something after the vote is just stupid > That is why we live in the USA so you can vote. Carrie is just trying to grab a headline since her new song ( see you again ) is a flop at #83 country on ITunes. :)~

April, 22, 2013 at 09:29 AM

Andy Holt told Carrie she should stick to singing ... I do not think Holt is worried about Carrie's 1.5 million twitter fans ... Carrie could only do 1 concert in Nashville and it was only 2/3 full ... It is not like she is Taylor Swift that has 3 sold out shows in Nashville and 26.5 million twitter fans ... Gee ... Get real Carrie!!!!

April, 22, 2013 at 10:54 AM

Nelson and Linda-Taylor trash fans-Just to let you know that Carrie's 2013 concerts are sold out and Taylor has the worst reputation in country music.

April, 22, 2013 at 11:08 AM

Fred are you a troll? ::: Everyone knows Carrie is not coming close to selling out any concert this year. Here is one of her last concert reviews and I quote ::: Carrie Underwood underachieves in Oakland ::: Chalk it up as further proof that Underwood's live show remains the one glaring weakness to her game. This Oakland show hardly did banner business -- roughly 8,000 fans turned out to a building that can hold twice that many. = 1/2 full and that is why Carrie is trying to make some news since her concert sales and like Nelson said. Her new song is a complete FLOP

Ms. Underwood seems to have a very high opinon of her powers over the Governor of TN. With only her entertainment value and her personal agenda backing it up, wouldn't that be a travesty? For a governor to place her self serving anti-meat agenda above the lives of multitudes of farmers and ranchers, processors, retailers, and happy, healthy CONSUMERS of meat in TN who make their living raising cattle and producing beef seems quite lop-sided, at best. Really, entertainment is for fun and recreation time. Crusading against food for personal reasons seems frivolous in a hungry world.

Missouri  |  April, 22, 2013 at 11:58 AM

It is high time for country-western music & rural America to cut this Animal Rights/HSUS supporter loose! She is a disgrace to all of those that make their living in agriculture.

As most livestock producers would agree, animal welfare is the utmost importance in raising food animals. Remember, we are in the business of providing a protein food source for people. Unfortunately, like any industry, there are few bad eggs in the basket and should account for their actions. But, there are activists out there with an agenda and often times find ways to sensationalize videos to try and put a bad light on a really good industry. It becomes obvious when animal rights groups wait months before posting a video. Why wait? If the abuse is really as bad as they are stating, report it! Biosecurity is also very important on a farm. It is not that we don't want to show people what happens on the farm or we are trying to hide something form them; we are just protecting our animals from disease. The fewer the people on the farm, the better for the welfare of our animals. I guess Ms. Underwood doesn't understand this. If a video is sensationalized and several months old, shame on the activist groups that do this to try and prevent important food sources from reaching the millions upon millions of people that value them as part of their diet. I don't have anything against a vegetarian or a vegan, but I also don't want someone taking away my freedom to choose meat protein sources I value and take pride in growing for others.

Atlanta  |  April, 22, 2013 at 04:16 PM

No one MUST have meat to be very, very healthy, and trying to convince anyone that keeping undercover videos from being make and aired due to DISEASE is a far stretch. Animal welfare to a person who profits from raising these poor animals is quite different from those who really care about the treatment and lives of the animals. People who raise animals for food want to prevent the public from seeing the real world these helpless animals endure. It's important to let people see the truth but now TN lawmakers, who must all be ignorant good ol' boys, want to keep it hidden. Hopefully, a high-places animal group will get the law overturned based on freedom of speech.

Texas  |  April, 22, 2013 at 05:16 PM

I wish so called "celebrities" would keep their opinions to themselves and work like normal people who disagree with our lawmakers. I don't care what Carrie, Taylor, Kim or any other news hog thinks about anything. Make your money doing what you do best and keep your public out of it. So many celebrities do and it is those I respect.

New York  |  April, 22, 2013 at 05:25 PM

Ag Gag laws are bad for consumers, animal rights, and worker rights. This isn't something that we should leave to the hands of the states since factory farms ship their "product" throughout the nation. We all know what happened in the time of slavery when we left social justice to the hands of the states. Don't let the same thing happen here. SIGN & SHARE the FEDERAL PETITION to stop Ag Gag laws, sponsored by Institute for Critical Animal Studies, North America, at #AgGagBad

Those of you arguing which performer sells out more venues are RIDICULOUS. Lets keep the topic to the one at hand, this is an atrocious bill and the US Govt is again siding with big business and REVENUE over animal and consumer welfare. Time to wake up people, we shall all be eating "soylent green" if the government continues to monitor farming and livestock practices as ineptly as they currently do.

California  |  April, 22, 2013 at 06:21 PM

This has nothing to do with CU selling tickets at her concerts,it's about stopping the barbaric cruelty inflicted upon animals.I am a meat eater and I know they need to be slaughtered, but it can be done humanely and without the abuse and torture of the poor animal. It is absolutely disgraceful that lawmakers in this country would want to protect these evil practices. We like to call ourselves a civilized country, but we look bad in the eyes of the rest of the world when we act like a third world barbaric state!

Carrie, are your ratings dropping? Do you have to voice your opinion all the time? Well, I think you've made your stardom in music, leave everything else alone to people that know what they are talking about! Take care of your husband and stay out of everyone else's business! Go Taylor Swift!!!

Bluff City, TN  |  April, 22, 2013 at 06:34 PM

I totally agree! Carrie should have been there BEFORE the vote! She is trying to gain attention and it's not working! Go Taylor! I think she is a way much better person than Carrie and has a bigger heart. Carrie has done let stardom go to her BIG head!

ohio  |  April, 22, 2013 at 06:37 PM

once again -people seem to get angry without really understanding the facts- to require turning over video evidence in 24 hours is not so law enforcement can cover it up- it s so the video is untainted and that authorities can act in a timely manner. If the activists were so intent on the treatment of animals thy wouldnt wait 2 or 3 months to report their findings.

San Jose  |  April, 22, 2013 at 06:37 PM

I have seen them both in concert and, hands down, Carrie Underwood was one of the best I have ever been to. It was when she did a co-headliner with Keith Urban. Taylor just stood in one place and shook her head a lot to throw her hair around. I like Taylor but I won't see her in concert again.

Bluff City  |  April, 22, 2013 at 06:43 PM

No Fred, you are dead wrong! Carrie is always trying to make Taylor look bad! Who do all the young girls scream to see????? Yes, Taylor Swift! You never hear of special cancer stricken kids begging for last wishes to see Taylor Swift! I've yet to see Carrie go out of her way to go meet in the hospital with anyone, except in her video, Temporary Home! So, who really cares anyway? Carrie is so jealous of Taylor and one day, they are going to duke it out and Taylor will be the only one standing! Lol.....

nor cal  |  April, 22, 2013 at 06:44 PM

its pretty obvious she is simply looking for attention for her cause- the text simply states a "unedited COPY" , says nothing about keeping the original, or using it as she sees fit- i dont see one problem with the bill- if there is a problem, it NEEDS immediate attention, and the bill simply forces this

Minden NV  |  April, 22, 2013 at 06:45 PM

Yes, we must never allow anyone to threaten our personal choice to end the life of someone who didn't want to die. ..The irony is, in the end, it's the animals you eat that are going to kill you. Heart disease, diabetes and cancers of the prostate and breast, etc. could all be avoided by eating a plant based diet.

Federal law already protects whistle blowers, and the legislator that created this bill already knew that. Everyone is also aware that Federal law supercedes state law in these matters, so in essence - no matter what they do, the bill will rendered null and void in Federal Court, so I really wouldn't worry whether or not this bill is signed or not. I just wish Carrie was aware of this. Actually, her attorney should have tweeted her as much.

April, 22, 2013 at 07:06 PM

Regular everyday Joes tweet all the time. I didn't realize it was a medium suited for the poor folk alone. I also didn't realize that if you are a well known individual you should not be vocal about things that matter to you. Thanks for the life lesson Sherry.

Entertainers are not essential to life. Food is. Using popularity to tip legislation is old as Soddom and Gomorrah, isn't it? Guess we have to live with that since there is so little attention to morality and integrity in this world yet! Fact: people who do not treat and care for their food animals properly, let alone intentionally abuse them, will suffer because mistreated and uncared for animals are not profitable animals. Fact: if a farmer/rancher is not profitable, he will not remain in business long. Animals are better served when their care is dictated by their needs and Animal Scientists have worked to ascertain the best care for them, as well as generations of responsible graziers and herders observing the needs to keep the animals in their care comfortable and thriving. HSUS and other animal activist groups have an agenda to end animal uses for any purpose. With the exception of using the photo's of abused animals to make money for their retirement funds, salaries and more! Doesn't it make sense for farmers and ranchers to work with science rather than fund raisers to assure the best care of our animals?

Nevada  |  April, 22, 2013 at 07:10 PM

It's not a "self serving anti-meat agenda" - instead it's about ensuring that the animals are treated as humanely as possible before slaughter and to ensure that animals that shouldn't enter the food system don't (as was the case a few years ago in California).

April, 22, 2013 at 07:12 PM

Funny you should mention hungry people. We grow enough grain to feed every single human being on this planet. We also have enough water. So why does someone die of starvation every 3.6 seconds, most of them children? Well, for one thing, the amount of grain it takes to produce one 8 ounce steak could fill 50 bowls full of grain for these children and the water it takes to produce the same miniscule serving amounts to filling 50 bathtubs. But don't take my word for it. Google it.

Nevada  |  April, 22, 2013 at 07:13 PM

The reason the video may be held for a period of time is to establish a long-term pattern of abuse. A one time event will not be investigated by any agency or governmental department. Only when there is a pattern will investigations happen.

Nevada  |  April, 22, 2013 at 07:14 PM

I am with you. The only reason state legislatures are moving to suppress the videos is to suppress the evidence of systemic abuse.

Texas  |  April, 22, 2013 at 07:42 PM

Let's see, you are talking about 2 stars that have different audiences Linda. You can't compare them. Taylor doesn't do anything except make headlines over all her romances and then writing immature songs over the guys when they dump her for getting too serious way too fast. She acts like a 14 year old. Then you have Carrie that wants to help where she can for good causes. It's not about filling seats like you think it is. It's about "leading by example" which Carrie does. If you look at actual Twitter followers, over 1/2 of them are SEO self experts, advertisers and/or adult services. So you can't go by that. In the end, Carrie wins because she will always have a major impact on social events, being a humanitarian and animal activist. What will Taylor have? No respect and a string of headlines showing how childish she is.

Why wouldn't anyone report the abuse immediately if it's so bad? What's wrong with this bill? It's like any crime in the nation. Anything edited, or tampered with, shouldn't be held up in court, even if it means letting the bad ones get by. If the activist cared so much, wouldn't they want to immediately go to the media with UNEDITED clips? It makes common sense in other situations such as child abuse and what not. Don't wait months what could be changed today.

Anyone who trashes Carrie Underwood does not read or know anything about her. First, she has always been an Animal Activist since growing up on an Oklahoma farm/ranch. She became a vegetarian as a young woman so this is not to gain attention. Second, you NEVER read or hear anything bad about this young lady. She is Class with a capital C. Third, I have seen her 5 times in concert and she is absolutley one of the most dynamic and professional performers I have ever seen. As a 62 year old woman I have seen some of the best entertainers over the years and she ranks right up with the best. And yes, her concerts are selling out. I saw her in a 50,000 seat arena and it was sold out and am seeing her next month in a local arena that sold out in one hour. Get your facts straight before you start criticizing people publicly.

Taylor Swift just has a bad reputation. Carrie must be doing something right if she's happily married and able to produce songs that don't sound like they're from a 14 year old's Facebook page. How sad that Taylor has all those fans, all that money, is a pretty young girl and she lets stupid boys drag her maturity level down. The meat and dairy industry is disgraceful, the only way to correctly edit those videos are by not showing them at all.

California  |  April, 23, 2013 at 09:20 PM

This is a Mandatory Animal Abuse Reporting Bill - it is *not* an 'ag gag' bill as animal rights extremists such as Underwood choose to manipulatively label it. The issue is whether someone who witnesses animal abuse should be required to immediately report it, or whether it's OK to let them take their sweet time about letting the authorities know something bad is happening. Think of it this way: if someone finds evidence of child abuse at a day care center, should they spend a couple months filming said abuse undercover - or should they immediately call local authorities? If some non-law enforcement 501c3 thinks a farm should be investigated, let it convince local sheriffs that a warrant for an undercover police investigation is necessary. No warrant? No trespass. See abuse taking place? Record the abuse? Hand carry the film to the nearest sheriff's station immediately. By the way - why does anyone who loves farming and livestock buy Underwood's recordings, knowing she has so little regard for farmers?

Illinois  |  April, 24, 2013 at 12:16 AM

Workers risk their jobs by reporting abuse. You are ill-informed if you think the average hourly worker will risk their employment by reporting their employer. There have been multiple stories of reports getting swept under the carpet. This Ag-gag legislation bleeds over into whistleblower protection, it is about more than just the animal abuse. Additionally, if you want the person reporting it to turn over their information immediately, then allow prosecution under animal welfare statutes based on one-time occurrences instead of placing the burden of proving long term systemic abuse. You can't have it both ways. I obviously don't know Carrie personally, but based on what I have read I would guess she has great regard for farmers, just not abusive ones. Why is the entire farming community up in arms about it, while at the same time claiming THEY are not abusive, etc. etc. If your farm does not engage in abuse then there is little to worry about is there? Animal welfare organizations work closely with authorities to bring animal abusers to justice. Don’t let SB1248 prevent undercover investigations of facilities with illegal and immoral practices. Tell Gov. Haslam to veto SB1248! You should go to to get more information and to take action.

NC  |  April, 24, 2013 at 08:27 AM

Well said, Maxine! This bill would help animals get help faster, instead of using someone's mistake to hurt so many people and animals. The majority of farmers are doing the right thing, and it's time they got credit for it.

Michigan  |  April, 28, 2013 at 03:06 PM

Ag Gag bills are bad for animals! We need justice for these animals—tell Tennessee Gov. Haslam to veto SB1248! Go to to take action.

You are so stupid omg
June, 04, 2013 at 04:42 PM

Wow. Didn't realize the whole word was a giant popularity contest. Just because she doesn't have shows that all get sold out doesn't mean she's an idiot. Get the hell over yourself.

Aurora / Memphis  |  June, 04, 2013 at 04:43 PM

Ever since I left my home town of Memphis, I get more and more upset with the GOP lead politicians with the racist, pro business, anti environment, anti 47% BS. Then there was the racist emails a few years ago. Get with it TN, join the rest of the world beyond 1955.

California  |  June, 04, 2013 at 04:44 PM

Yes, deflect the real issue here onto the person that has something to say. Funny, I just watched a US Senate Committee this morning do the same thing regarding those targeted by the IRS. Wow, how this country has degenerated. So sad........

Florida  |  June, 04, 2013 at 04:47 PM

If she's going to show up on his front door step, you can betcha he's going to sign that bill!

June, 04, 2013 at 04:48 PM

Of all the atrocious crap going on in government right now. This is what she gets upset about?

Grapevine, Texas  |  June, 04, 2013 at 04:51 PM

Linda, If you're comparing Taylor Swift to Carrie Underwood, you really need to have that tin ear looked at. While Ms. Swift is a talented song writer, she couldn't carry a tune in a bucket. I've had the misfortune of seeing her perform live. Bad, bad, bad!

California  |  June, 04, 2013 at 04:52 PM

I wouldn't expect Carrie Underwood to sell out a concert in Oakland. It's not country music that sells there. It's rap. Then get rapped in the head by a slugger. You couldn't pay me enough money to set foot in that city. Daily murders going on there with a do nothing mayor who stands for protesters. Oakland is a true cesspool.

California  |  June, 04, 2013 at 04:57 PM

This article is not about abortion. Why do people like you feel the need to bring it up at the most inappropriate times? These animals deserve to live their lives as pain free as possible. To allow abuse to continue and not report it, is irresponsible and inhumane.

Savannah Ga  |  June, 04, 2013 at 04:58 PM

It seems a lot of you condone mistreating animals, but did any of you even write a letter to your to your congressman ,or senater about the abuse,if not then shut up at least she cares for anamals

Carrie Underwood for president.

Louisiana  |  June, 04, 2013 at 05:08 PM

Another celebrity with an axe to grind over something. It's too bad most of the under 40 crowd, holds them in such high esteem. Celebrities should stick to what they do best, sing, dance, act, OH??!! ACT..yep they perform, everything is a performance, and this is another example. Such a shame for talent to be used in this manner.

burton, ohio  |  June, 04, 2013 at 05:09 PM

I agree with fred!

louisiana  |  June, 04, 2013 at 05:17 PM

Most of Taylor's fans are not voting age...they are just spoiled Brat's..heck of song writer, and good creative video...absolutely NO VOCAL SKILLS. But, VOCAL skills are not important anymore, just the personna...

D-town, PA  |  June, 04, 2013 at 05:20 PM

This IS protecting animals. If you want to stop something bad from happening you don't need to edit tape...submit as is and report it immediately. So, what's the BFD?! Oh wait, it doesn't give the activists time to F with the videos and sensationalize them to make agricultural workers look bad. Thaaaaaaat's right.

Oregon  |  June, 04, 2013 at 05:26 PM

Actually, Nelson, Carrie spoke out about this at least once that I know of before the vote. Good for her. This type of bill only hurts the credibility of our great ag system.

June, 04, 2013 at 05:27 PM

If we take an animals life for our needs then in return that animal should have a life filled with care and compassion. Unfortunately in this country factory farm animals are often treated cruelly and more or less like a piece of garbage. A law that punishes the person who reports horrible cruelties rather than the person committing the abuse is wrong. If one reports child abuse do we put them in jail and forget the abuser? Bad bill, good Carrie!

Linda G
Missouri  |  June, 04, 2013 at 05:31 PM

I support Carrie. Someone has to speak up for the defenseless animals. Carrie doesn't need to speak up for this cause to sell her music. You people are not human that don't speak up for animals!

Florida  |  June, 04, 2013 at 05:45 PM

It is not an anti-meat agenda. It is an anti-cruelty agenda. If people run their farms like they are should, they shouldn't feel threatened.

Libville, CA  |  June, 04, 2013 at 06:56 PM

Are you kidding? I wish they would all shut the hell up. What makes you think that these people know what they are talking about? All they are doing is influencing a bunch of moron sheep too lazy to do any research for themselves and form their own opinions. They are going to agree with whatever their particular idol is telling them is the truth. It really cracks me up to listen to people spout crap that they have heard from Carrie Underwood, George Looney, or any number of other celebrities who think they are subject matter experts. I mean seriously, they should stick to what they talented at doing, entertaining. What makes you people think that they know any more than you do or have a better knack for critical thinking? Stop being sheep people! Start thinking for yourselves before your brain cells turn to mush.

Libville, CA  |  June, 04, 2013 at 07:07 PM

Wait a minute, Carrie has a great voice so she is a great person? How do you know that she is a great person, do you know her personally? I have never met her, but she does have a nice voice. I don't know if she is a great person or not. I will let you know once I have had a chance to spend some quality time with her. As far as all of the Taylor bashing, I don't know her either. So she dates a lot, that seems like a pretty normal activity for a 22 yo single woman and she seems like she is trying to experience being that normal 22yo. Does that make her a bad person? How else is she suppose to find the right person if she doesn't date? She just has the misfortune of being in the public eye. And not everyone has to like her music, thats your choice. But you also have to respect the choice of others who do like her music. Doesn't matter if they are Teens or Retirees. Yes, contrary to your opinions, there are older people out there who do enjoy her music.

I agree, how many more animals are being abused while they sit on a video for months????

Indiana  |  June, 04, 2013 at 08:37 PM

The governor will soon be going to prison with his brother for defrauding the trucking industry so Carrie will need to focus on the Lt. Governor.......I mean.....don't they know who she is??? LOL!

California  |  June, 04, 2013 at 08:40 PM

Considering the number of "animal abuse videos" that seem to involve supporters of animal rights encouraging other employees to willfully violate everything from company policies through biosecurity rules and abuse laws, this is a reasonable step. If there is abuse, law enforcement needs to know about it. I saw an alleged poultry abuse video that involved incorrectly dressed personnel walking down a cage row and deliberately terrorizing Leghorns - a behavior that if seen by any manager in any poultry farm in the country would result in immediate termination of the employee for both abuse and biosecurity reasons.

California  |  June, 04, 2013 at 08:46 PM

In other words, if there is abuse, the entire documentation should be submitted to law enforcement within 24 hours; if the abuse is serious to warrant taping, it is serious enough to warrant reporting. Most of those who allegedly are taping abuse aren't reporting it - it goes onto websites to rally people to support ill-considered laws and to garner financial donations. I find the complaints of those who allegedly document abuse and go to the media instead of law enforcement something less than credible. If their concern were actually to stop abuse, they should be reporting it.

SC  |  June, 04, 2013 at 08:54 PM

She's NOT a "so-called celebrity." She's a full blown celebrity. Obviously, YOU know her. If she wasn't a celebrity, non-country music listening people wouldn't even know her name. She has indeed sold out many shows this year. People in Nashville are just use to the country scene. It loses it's excitement. I know, I lived there. You can disagree with how she took her stand AND how she voiced her opinion or whatever you want to disagree with. But, you can not put her down when it comes to her career accomplishments. She's had many. Many awards, many sold out shows, etc. She's not as twitter entailed as Taylor. She doesn't tweet everything she thinks as some younger stars. It works for Taylor though, so good for her. Again, just as you think Carrie should stick to her career expertise, so should you. Have a nice day.

I did a documentary about Southeast Oklahoma. I grew up there.I was shooting photos and videos in the back pens of one of the large stockyards down there. I had been doing it for weeks when finally one of the owners told me not too because "they didnt want me shooting photos of "downed animals" I never saw any but I assumed they sure wanted to cover it up if there were any. I remember how cruel some of the ranchers were to animals hitting them in the head with boards when they didnt go the way they wanted....I suspect it was PTSD from WWII

Houston, TX  |  June, 04, 2013 at 11:53 PM

Andy Holt, Nelson and Linda need to get their heads out of their butts! Carrie is extremely busy and probably was not aware of the AG Gag law until after the vote. She is a wonderful, kind hearted person and a true animal activist; as far as her comparison to Taylor Swift - there is none. Taylor is talented and when she finally grows up she will be even better. Carrie never belittles other artists and just tries to do the best she can to provide great music, be a loving wife and daughter. Another tidbit for Andy and Nelson - Country Music is not just about making money - it is more about the love of music. You too need to get a grip - feel free to respond - I will be watching for it!!! True Texan.

Houston, TX  |  June, 04, 2013 at 11:56 PM

Henry - I support animals eating people like you - I hope you go the way of Obama - hated by all of America - it would be fitting to your intelligence!

Houston, TX  |  June, 04, 2013 at 11:59 PM

Then don't listen to it - I sure you are sooooooooooo much more talented, like you probably can almost walk and talk at the same time. Having been raised in the South we normally do not say anything unless we can say something nice, but you are just too stupid for words.

Houston, TX  |  June, 05, 2013 at 12:01 AM

You probably play with your monkey all the time because no one else will touch it, you are too disgusting to be allowed on the internet; I hope someone knows who you are and chokes you with your monkey!!!!!!

Houston, TX  |  June, 05, 2013 at 12:05 AM

Do you think that maybe the fact that she is a newlywed and is placing her marriage above making money might be causing a slight dip in her concert earnings? If you don't like her music don't listen to it, as far as Country music fans are concerned she is totally awesome and a wonderful person. Therefore I do not think Fred is a troll I think you are a dumba--, I am sure you can figure that one out!

Houston, TX  |  June, 05, 2013 at 12:13 AM

I am all for supporting the farmers and ranchers, but I DO NOT SUPPORT ANIMAL ABUSE, you can make a living with out inhumane treatment of the livestock. As far as your opinion of Carrie, who are you to judge her, do you actually put out any effort to support something you believe in? You should be thankful that she cares enough to stand up for something she believes in. I am 57 years old and have supported and defended animals all my life, maybe you should think about this before you start criticizing someone else. How would you feel if it was someone in your family that was being abused? Animals deserve the same humane treatment as humans.

Houston, TX  |  June, 05, 2013 at 12:16 AM

There is a difference between making a living and abuse. All of God's creatures deserve humane treatment. If you don't think so then maybe it is time you suffer some of the inhumane treatment that these animals are suffering. As far as Country Music goes - at least it still has a heart, unlike so many other entertainment industries these days.

Stephanie...You tell "em!!!

SF  |  June, 05, 2013 at 02:30 AM

I've seen some absolutely repulsive videos of animals, cows, and chickens, and turkey, that were horrifically tortured. These poor, frightened, pathetic creatures were screeching, as they were being loaded, if that's anyway to describe how their "psycho killers", also called employees, were shoving the chickens and turkeys into cages, until the cages were stuffed. One man even shoved his fingers into the bums of these pitiful animals. some of the turkeys. He even tried to coax another worker into doing the same.

SF  |  June, 05, 2013 at 02:47 AM you not think animal abuse is a worthy cause for her to get" upset" about. She did give 1,000,000 dollars to the victims of Oklahoma, so she did do the, let's help the people, and now she is trying to help to these poor animals to be killed in a more humane manner. Why would you find fault with that?

SF  |  June, 05, 2013 at 03:10 AM

Mac.. don't these celebs pay their taxes? We live in the United States, and the last time I heard, we have this thing called freedom of speech, as you have also proven. I am not one who believes just because you guys "talk funny", and live in "swampland". with your nutrias, you aren't very smart. Although, in your case, it's questionable. Why do you have the opinion celebrities aren't capable of having any intelligence. Many have graduated from very prestigious universities, and with honors. There are a lot of celebs who have their own production companies, or own businesses that have nothing to do with the entertainment field.

USA  |  June, 05, 2013 at 05:14 AM

Wow, J.J. that really sounds like total industry-defending BullSh*t! A few bad eggs? Really? The whole industry is based on cruelty to animals from start to finish. And recent news reports have verfied that much meat that is sold in markets is tainted, meat and dairy are loaded with hormones, antibiotics and other bad stuff... And so the only meat and dairy it makes any sense to eat at all is Certified Organic meat and dairy.

New York  |  June, 05, 2013 at 08:06 AM

Good for Carrie Underwood! I dare all you critics to watch some of the footage taken of the absesses and diseased meat you're all eating. If the abusers in these animals in factory farms were caught doing what they do to a dog or cat they'd be serving jail time!

June, 05, 2013 at 08:41 AM

Carrie shut up. Really I remember a very healthy Carrie Underwood on American Idol, you know the one that use to eat meat and drink milk. Sounds to me your trying to throw what little bit of a body you have around, thinking just because you are some what of a country star that you can scare the governor of Tenn. I sure do miss the original Carrie before she got star struck

June, 05, 2013 at 09:19 AM

To all you guys and girls that like Taylor Swift the one who sleeps with every guy she talks to then sings about them. Carrie Underwood can out walk, talk and sing Taylor anytime and she sure is more respectful.

Carrie cares for people as well as animals. She recently gave one million dollars to the tornado relief fund for those who lost there homes in the tornadoes here in Oklahoma. If as many people cared about their fellow human beings as these animals, we would all be better off. Thank you Carrie for caring!
