Missouri Producers Auction Yards

Dairy replacement sales results from Norwood, Mo. on May 27:

Demand was moderate on a moderate supply.  The supply consisted of

17% springer heifers, 8% bred heifers, 18% open heifers, 6% fresh heifers and cows and 1% baby calves. The balance was made up of steer/bull calves and weigh cows. Prices are for Holsteins on a per head basis unless otherwise noted.

March commercial disappearance up 1.8%

March 2014 U.S. commercial disappearance of milk used in all dairy products rose 1.8% from a year ago, according to USDA’s monthly Dairy Data report.

Commercial disappearance of milk used in all dairy products during March 2014 totaled 17.60 billion lbs., up 2.13 billion lbs. from February 2014, and about 307 million lbs. more than March 2013.

At the end of March, ending commercial stocks totaled 12.77 billion lbs., up about 424 million lbs. compared to February 2014, but still about 2.3 billion lbs. less than March 2013.

Commercial disappearance for the January-March 2014 quarter was estimated at 50.04 billion lbs., up 3.3% from the same period a year earlier.
