Cold Storage: Butter stocks climb 24 percent from 2012

Butter stocks rose 4 percent from April to May, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s “Cold Storage” report on Friday.  This is 24 percent higher than reported in May 2012.

Butter stored in warehouses climbed from 309.7 million pounds in April to 323.2 million in May.

Total natural cheese stocks in refrigerated warehouses also saw a slightly uptick, climbing 3 percent from last month.
