Wisconsin: Beginning farmers encouraged to return survey

The Wisconsin Beginning Farmer Survey is in the mail, and Wisconsin ag department officials encourage producers to fill it out and return it. The confidential information collected from these surveys will be used to develop programs to serve beginning farmers.

The survey was mailed to those who indicated they were a beginning farmer on their 2012 Census of Agriculture. The four-page survey includes questions about how you began farming, details on the current farm and future goals. There are also questions about what resources are currently the most useful.

The survey is due Feb. 20. For more information about the survey, contact DATCP’s Mike Bandli at 608-224-5136 or Mike.Bandli@wisconsin.gov

WMMB nominations sought

Wisconsin dairy farmers interested in serving the state’s dairy industry and shaping its future are invited to submit a nomination to represent their district as a Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board (WMMB) director. Producers who are interested in serving as a director can contact Noel Favia at (608) 224-5140 or Noel.Favia@wisconsin.gov for a nomination form or access an electronic copy at www.wmmb.com/elections.
