July FMMO Class III, IV prices higher

Federal order Class III & IV milk prices increased in July, according to the monthly price announcement from USDA's Ag Marketing Service. 

July 2014 prices, compared to previous month and year, include:

• Class III: $21.606/cwt., up 24¢ from June 2014 and $4.22 more than July 2013. The increase halts a two-month decline that saw the Class III price fall nearly $3/cwt. from April. The 2014 Y-T-D average is $22.52/cwt., up $4.83 from the January-July 2013 average of $17.69/cwt. 

• Class IV: $23.78/cwt., up 65¢ from June 2014 and $4.88 more than July 2013. It's also the highest Class IV on record. The 2014 Y-T-D average is $23.19/cwt., up $4.92 from the January-July 2013 average of $18.27/cwt.

California's comparable Class 4a-4b prices will be announced Aug. 1.

Ethanol production data for the week ending July 25:

Ethanol production: 40.1 million gallons/day. The four-week average for ethanol production calculates to an annualized rate of 14.5 billion gallons.

Corn used: 14.54 million bushels/day

DIstillers grains production: 94,918 metric tons/day
