If your dairy company currently exports milk products to China or you plan to do so in the future, you need to make sure your company is on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) milk manufacturers and processors list.

The FDA established this list so U.S. companies can comply with new requirements of the Chinese government for the importation of milk products into China. China has advised that milk products from firms not on the list could be prevented from entering commerce in China.

The first posting of the list and notification to China will occur on or about April 30, 2014. The list will be updated every two years.

The list will include the following information: business name and address, contact, list of products presently shipped to China or intended to be shipped, name and address of the manufacturing plant, name of the government agencies that inspect the plant, and copy of the last inspection notice.

The complete notification from the FDA is available online at http://www.fda.gov/food/guidanceregulation/guidancedocumentsregulatoryinformation/importsexports/ucm378777.htm.
