A central Wisconsin dairy is recovering following a late-night fire that ripped through the dairy’s barn, killing 70 Jerseys and Holsteins that were inside.
The Wausau Daily Herald reports that firefighters were called to the scene of the fire before 10 p.m. on Sunday. When they arrived, the barn was completely engulfed in flames.
According to Lt. Dale Wisnewski with the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department, the barn is a complete loss. Seventy-three cows were killed by the inferno.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
