Lifeway Foods, Inc., purchased the Golden Guernsey dairy plant located in Waukesha, Wis., for $7.4 million in a bankruptcy auction on Tuesday.
The newest owner, Lifeway Foods, Inc., is based out of Morton Grove, Ill., and makes a dairy product called kefir, which is similar to yogurt. The company employs approximately 360 people at other plants in Illinois and Pennsylvania.
Golden Guernsey had previously employed 112 people before it was shutdown on Jan. 5. There is a hearing scheduled for June 10 to approve the sale and the plant looks to be operational sometime during the summer pending approval.
