How most is it worth to drink milk at breakfast?

For 25 lucky high school senior student athletes, it’s worth healthy bodies and a $7,500 scholarship.

The National Milk Mustache “got milk?” Campaign and USA Today have announced the winners of their 2012 Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year (SAMMY) Awards. The scholarship contest looked at student athletes who also excelled in academics, athletics and community service and incorporated milk as part of their daily breakfast routine.

Finalists were selected by a star-studded panel of judges, including NBA star Chauncey Billups, Olympic swimmer Dara Torres, tennis star Andy Roddick, skateboarding legend Tony Hawk, and Olympic softball pitcher Jennie Finch.

"We are thrilled to be able to reward these exceptional teens for their commitment to sport, education and their health," Victor Zaborsky, Marketing Director, National Milk Mustache "got milk?" Campaign said in a news release. "They also serve as role models for drinking milk – especially at breakfast. Milk is a natural source of high-quality protein, which helps keep you full in the morning, so you'll stay on track with your healthy eating plan throughout the day. SAMMY winners understand it's just not breakfast without milk."

More than 30,000 high school seniors applied. Scholarship winners will be featured in a special Milk Mustache ad in the June 29 issue of USA Today and attend a weekend of events at Disney World with their families, including an awards ceremony hosted by Billups and Finch.  Click here for a full list of winners.

Though the winners have been named, the competition isn’t over yet. The public is encouraged to visit SAMMYMVP.com to cast their vote for the SAMMY Most Valuable Player (MVP).  The winner SAMMY scholar will receive $5,000 to donate to the organization of their choice.
