microscope Many people interested in food safety and animal health have been following the blog of Scott Hurd, DVM, PhD, Iowa State University. Hurd announced that the blog has now moved to a dedicated website at

Hurd says the blog on the new site encompasses many of his goals and messages related to human health, animal health, food safety, and public health. In his current posting he dissects the antibiotic sales data released by the FDA last week.

In March, Hurd will also start a blog column for called “The Gentle Vet”.

Hurd’s goal is to address pertinent topics in food safety and animal health. He says the blog will be a bit more technical and provide some scientific back up for topics on Meatingplace and will also be a forum for further food safety discussions.
