Sometimes there is a champagne shower waiting at the finish line of a NASCAR event, but more often times than not we see drivers indulging in a gulp of ice-cold milk, right out of the jug. This time of year calls for the most divine-dairies as the Indianapolis 500 approaches. Julie Cope Saetre of Indy Star explains what dairy farmer Ken Hoeing of Rush County enjoys as he prepares for the race.

1. A big, ice-cold glass of milk with a warm snickerdoodle cookie. My wife, Denise, makes a mean snickerdoodle cookie, and milk adds calcium, protein and Vitamin D to the snack. It's just a really good combo. Enough said.

2. Royal Feast Pizza from Pizza King (multiple locations). It's got everything pizza needs: pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, onions, peppers and cheese. And I always add extra cheese, since that's the best part of the pizza.

3. Stagg's Dairy Treats & Restaurant (1010 W. 3rd St., Rushville). I've been going there with my dad or grandpa for raspberry milkshakes since I was a kid growing up on my family's dairy farm, and now my son goes there, too. It's a local institution and a Hoeing family tradition.

4. El Reparo Mexican Restaurant(302 W. 2nd St., Rushville). This is the go-to restaurant for my family in Rushville (like most dairy farmers, we love supporting local businesses). Everything is good here, but my favorite is chicken nachos with cheese.

5. A big bowl of vanilla ice cream with peaches. Since I'm outdoors most days from dawn to dusk working on our farm, the best way to cool down after a hot day is with a bowl of ice cream and fresh fruit. As soon as fresh peaches are available, this is my dessert of choice.
