A fire near George, Iowa, over the weekend killed 35 calves.

According to KIWA Radio, the barn was fully engulfed by flames by the time fire crews arrived on the scene. Thirty-five mile-per-hour winds made it difficult for crews trying to stop the fire from spreading to other buildings on the property.

George Fire Chief Bill Sprock estimates damages to top $50,000.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but Sprock believes that the fire was likely electrical in nature.
