She was an Executive Editor at Farm Progress Publications, where she had responsibility for some of the company’s largest publications, including Nebraska Farmer, Kansas Farmer and Missouri Ruralist. In addition, she served as editor of The Hog Producer, which appeared in all Farm Progress publications. Alumbaugh also served as Director of Communications for Farms.com, where she managed the company’s online presence, U.S. industry outreach and custom publishing enterprises.

Immediately prior to joining PorkNetwork, Alumbaugh was a counselor at Morgan & Myers, where she was involved in strategic planning, integrated marketing communications, digital media and public relations on key accounts. She also was CEO of Alumbaugh Communications, a privately held project-management enterprise in Linden, Iowa. Alumbaugh holds a Bachelors degree in English from Eastern Michigan University. She is an Honorary Iowa Master Pork Producer and serves on the board of the American Agricultural Editors’ Association.

“We’re excited to have JoAnn lead PorkNetwork and help give pork producers the tools to be profitable in the ever changing marketplace,” Johnson said.
