Dean Foods Co. announced this week that it had cut a “significant” number of jobs at its Dallas headquarters according to a report by The Associated Press.
The company, one of the largest dairy distributors in the United States, did not disclosure the exact number of job cuts. However, Liliana Esposito, a Dean Foods spokesman, told the Associated Press that more information would be made available when the company releases its financial results for the fourth quarter and full fiscal year on Feb. 15.
The company employs nearly 26,000 people with roughly 1,000 of those in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. This number includes employees at its corporate headquarters and other business support centers and production facilities.
The cuts only affected those employed at the headquarters.
The company distributes many store-brand products. Through its subsidiary, it also produces and sells brand-name items such as Silk soy, Horizon Organic and Land O’Lakes products.
On Wednesday the company’s shares rose 2 cents to close at $10.89.
